Vintage Red Folk Art Pitcher

$136.00

A vintage redware pitcher with a deep burgundy glaze and a hand-painted yellow slip floral band encircling the lower body. The decoration is a continuous scrolling vine motif with curling leaf forms and small dot accents, applied freehand with enough variation to read as made by hand rather than transferred. A thin yellow line runs along the base of the band, grounding the decoration against the dark glaze above and below.

The body is cylindrical with a slight barrel taper, a single loop handle, and a wide open rim. The glaze is rich and even, darkening slightly toward the upper body. It works as a pitcher, a vase for a handful of stems, or a counter object that holds its own on a shelf. In excellent condition, no chips or damage. There is only one.
