A pair of brass, silver finished solifleur vases by the Hagenauer Workshop, Vienna, dating to the 1960s. Each vase rises from a starburst base of radiating pointed petals, the curved arms lifting four slender stems to hold a single flower each. The silver has darkened to a deep, uneven tone that suits the sculptural confidence of the form completely.

Hagenauer produced some of the most distinctive metalwork of the 20th century out of their Vienna workshop, and these solifleur vases are a good example of why. The design is graphic and precise, with the kind of quiet authority that holds up in any room.

The silver shows honest patina consistent with age. Both vases are solid and stable.
