Vintage Central City Drawing
A framed etching of Central City, Colorado rendered in fine intaglio line work, signed by the artist in the lower right corner. The print captures the historic main street of one of Colorado's oldest mining towns, drawn with an unhurried, observational hand. Buildings rise on either side of a quiet road, their stone facades rendered with the kind of patient detail that only comes from working directly on a plate.
The etching is presented in its original gilt wood frame, the gold leaf surface worn and gently textured in the way that frames pick up over decades of living on a wall. The cream mat has taken on a warm, amber tone with age, which suits the piece entirely. The title "Central City, Colorado" is inscribed in the lower left margin in the artist's own hand.
The print itself shows light foxing to the mat, consistent with age and honest storage. The frame has minor corner wear. The etching plate area is clean and the line work is crisp and undimmed.
Part of Hoppe Shoppe's curated collection of vintage wall art and found objects, this is the kind of piece that asks nothing of a room except a good wall and a little light.
