Born from a land of extremes—the deserts of India’s northwestern frontier—steel, bronze, sand and fire combine to create bells with a range of tones that are primarily mesmerizing.

Each bell is beaten into shape by hand, then baked under the sand in make-shift kilns. This annealing gives each bell its unique tone and patina.

A network of artisans linked by a cooperative keeps this ancient skill alive.
