An antique hand-colored photograph by Wallace Nutting, signed in pencil below the image in his characteristic script. The scene is a colonial bedroom interior, a woman in period dress standing beside a four-poster bed with floral hangings, the room warm and carefully composed in the way Nutting's interiors always are. The hand-coloring is soft and precise, the colors still vivid against the warm tone of the paper.

Nutting produced these hand-colored photographs in the early 20th century as a deliberate act of preserving American colonial domestic life, and they have been collected ever since. This one is a good example; small, intimate, and genuinely lovely in its original frame.

The photograph is presented in its original gilt wood frame, the gold worn and chipped at the corners in a way that suits it completely. A small brass ring on the verso, ready to hang.

The mat shows age toning consistent with its age. The photograph itself is clean and the hand-coloring is unfaded.
