A pair of carved marble bookends, each formed as a pelican sitting on a marble base. The marble is white with soft grey veining that runs through the stone naturally, giving each bird its own quiet pattern. The carving is smooth and confident, with the birds leaning gently forward, wings tucked, heads turned slightly down in a posture that is calm.

The marble shows minor surface scuffs consistent with age, and there is slight variation between the two figures as expected from hand carving. They read as a matched pair.
