Kintsugi Kit - Mangetsu

$188.00

An advanced mangetsu kintsugi kit with raw urushi lacquer, sourced from Japan. Kintsugi is the Japanese practice of repairing broken ceramics with lacquer and precious metal, treating the break as part of the object's history rather than something to hide. The mangetsu technique works with urushi, the traditional lacquer derived from the Japanese urushi tree -- the same material used in kintsugi practice for centuries. This is the advanced kit, for those ready to work with authentic materials rather than modern substitutes. The gold powder produces the characteristic warm, luminous repair lines that make kintsugi what it is. We carry both a beginner kit and this more complete version for those who want to commit to the full practice. Part of Hoppe Shoppe's curated collection of considered objects and tools for the home.
