A vintage silverplate oval dish by Reed and Barton in the Holiday pattern, stamped 110 on the base. The dish is formed with deep lobed fluting radiating from a smooth oval center to a scalloped rim, the whole surface highly polished and reflective. The silverplate has softened slightly with age, the exterior of the rim showing the warm, matte tone that comes from handling over time while the interior remains bright.

Reed and Barton have been making American silverplate since 1824, and the Holiday pattern is one of their most enduring. This dish is a good example of why — the form is generous and considered, and it looks as right on a table today as it ever did.
