A modular white stoneware pedestal cake stand and serving set, handmade by New York ceramicist Brent Gillentine of BEG Ceramics. The set is two pieces; a wide flat round dish with a footed ridge, and a bowl that nests cleanly into it to form a pedestal stand. Use them together as a cake stand for a dinner party centerpiece, or pull them apart and put each piece to work on its own. The flat dish is generous enough for a spread of chips, crudités, or cheese. The bowl works just as well for fruit, dips, or anything that wants a little containment. Nest them together and the whole thing becomes something worth putting in the middle of the table and leaving there. Both pieces are finished in the same warm white glaze, and because each set is thrown by hand, there is natural variation from one to the next.
