A hand-painted terracotta pot with twin loop handles and a wide decorative band of blue and yellow floral motifs running the full circumference of the body. The flowers are painted in deep cobalt and warm ochre against the rust terracotta ground, framed above and below by scrolling cream linework and dark banding. The painting is confident and practiced, the kind of decoration that comes from a long tradition of doing it well.

The terracotta has a warm, earthy glaze that deepens toward the base, the handles unglazed and slightly rougher to the touch. The whole piece has a solidity and presence that is hard to photograph accurately.

A beautiful object on a kitchen shelf, a table, or a console. Holds dried stems, small branches, or nothing at all with equal ease.
