The handwoven wool Momo blanket come from Momostenango, Guatemala, where Mayan artisans hand-spin, dye, and weave the wool on traditional foot looms passed down through generations. What sets them apart is the region's hot spring felting tradition: twice a week, freshly woven blankets are carried to natural volcanic hot springs, where the steaming water shrinks and felts the wool into its signature dense, plush texture. After drying in the sun, each blanket gets a final hand-softening with brushes made from dried seed pods. The result is a thick, heirloom-quality wool throw that's as durable as it is warm.
